For more than 30 years, Viña Montes has been producing luxury wines from Chile and exporting them to customers worldwide. This year, the winery is celebrating its 30th anniversary by releasing a limited edition of Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 vintage as a special thank you to loyal wine lovers.
Montes Alpha Special Edition
This exclusive wine is perfect for beginners and connoisseurs alike—it pairs well with foods like beef and venison or even a charcuterie board filled with cheeses. This bold red wine hails from the Colchagua Valley, one of Chile’s popular wine regions. Each year, the Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon has become increasingly desirable, making it difficult to find unless you search on special occasions—or head to your local Co-op Wine Spirits Beer store.
This wine is a bright, fruit-forward wine with hints of black currants and raspberries, and the overall body of the wine is light enough not to overpower your meal. More than half of the wine has been aged in French oak barrels, which adds more depth and complexity to the wine and allows for a balance of flavors.
30 Years in the Making
Beginning in 1988, four friends had a dream to produce premium wines from Chile and share them with the world. The first wine Viña Montes ever created was the Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon, which was recognized as the first Premium Wine from Chile. It helped establish the country as a premier producer of wine. Thanks to the region’s rich terroir, Viña Montes has been able to create consistently premium quality grades and build a world-class portfolio of wines.
The vineyards of Viña Montes are located within the best wine growing areas in the region: Apalta. Thanks to the location and mild weather, it allows the grapes to mature more fully, which adds to the flavors of the wine.
Celebrating 30 years of wine with… wine!
The friends behind Viña Montes wanted to create something as a special thank you to celebrate the three decades of success. All Alpha wines have been awarded “Top Scoring and Best Value” from the prestigious Wine Spectator magazine, making a huge achievement at the affordable price point of the Montes Alpha. The Montes Alpha 30 year Cabernet Sauvignon can be found at Co-op Wine Spirits Beer can be enjoyed now or cellar it for up to 10 years.
