Spring is a time for rebirth, regeneration and of course for kicking back and enjoying the outdoors. Fitting, then, that Calgary’s Village Brewery has chosen spring to launch a slightly new look—and a new product.
The new Village Hooch is a ready-to-drink, malt-based seltzer.
“Hooch is designed to be extremely light-bodied, clear in colour and crisp in flavour, with subtle notes of natural mango, lime or grapefruit flavours,” reveals Jackson Stuart, Marketing Manager, Village Brewery. “This naturally flavoured hard seltzer has just 95 calories, two grams of carbs and 5% Alcohol.”
Village Hooch is available in 6-packs of those fresh summery flavours; Mango, Lime or Grapefruit, plus in a variety pack of 12 cans with four of each flavour so you can sample the lineup.
You may also notice Village Brewery products look a little different. That’s because the brewery has done a small refresh on its can designs.
“We wanted to brighten up our designs to better stand out, with bolder colours that complement each other. We brightened up the colours on every can and box,” explains Stuart.
The redesign is also meant to highlight one of Village’s signature elements.
“Each Village beer is a character in the village and each character is actually based on a Village staff member’s family member. This is something that we wanted to really showcase in the new look, so we made each can's character much more prominent both on the can and on the case, and added a line that tells you who each character is in relation to the village. Now our customers can get to know the folks in our village a little better.”
Village is more than a name for the brewery. The company was founded on the principals that ‘it takes a village’ and that you should always be ready to help a neighbour. Not surprisingly Village puts its money where its mouth is.
“10% of our bottom line goes back into the community. We haven’t talked a lot about that publicly, but in the eight years since Village launched, the work we have done is something that we are really proud of. That’s why it’s now noted on our packaging, so people can understand further how they can support the community alongside the brewery”
