World of Whisky Festival

August 22, 2017

For the fifth year in a row, Co-op Wine Spirits Beer is hosting their World of Whisky Festival that brings together top international whiskies, industry experts and gourmet food.

“It’s a relaxed atmosphere that allows guests to mingle, ask questions, and taste offerings from over 30 whisky suppliers,” says Heather Van Runt, Manager at Co-op Wine Spirits Beer.

Everyone over the age of 18 is welcome to the popular event that takes place on November 4th at the BMO Centre in Stampede Park. Last year the festival featured over 175 products for guests to sample.

“The festival is a great opportunity to try a wide variety of whiskies from all over the world,” Heather says. “There are always new and exciting products, so it’s a wonderful event for both whisky enthusiasts and people wanting to learn more about it.”

When guests arrive they are given a Glencairn glass, which designed specifically for drinking whisky. Both General and VIP tickets are available for purchase - here is a breakdown of what’s included:

General Admission

  • Glencairn whisky glass
  • Gourmet buffet dinner
  • Gate entry at 6 pm

VIP Admission

  • Glencairn whisky glass
  • Gourmet buffet dinner
  • Early entry at 5 pm to attend seminar
  • A guided tasting with industry experts
  • Exclusive products to sample

Heather says the VIP tickets are highly sought-after and sell out every year, as there is a limited number available.

“This is a memorable event that many from the Calgary whisky community attend every year. It’s also a great way to learn all about what whisky has to offer and to network with local and international whisky lovers.”

Be sure to purchase your tickets soon before they’re all gone!  Click here to learn more.
