2016 CHATEAU ROUSSELLE Cotes De Bourg

Think 'Bordeaux' means expensive and snooty? Think again! There's an ocean of vinous value to be found within France’s largest wine region. Take a few of the elite estates out of the mix, and most of Bordeaux’s 6,000 estates are producing affordable, interesting wines like sparkling, whites, rosés, reds and sweet dessert wines. The incredible 2015 and 2016 vintages are hitting our shelves now, and the 2016 Chateau Rousselle from the northern Bordeaux region of the Cotes de Bourg is loaded with velvety plum and berry fruit. It is made up of mostly Merlot, with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon, and over-delivers for the money. Try this gorgeous red with a lamb burger and fries, or tuck away a few bottles to enjoy in 3-5 years.
