Since its creation in the mid-nineteenth century, the Tuscan red blend we know as Chianti was notably sold in stout bottles wrapped in straw. Bottling practices have changed, but the wine remains celebrated today. It is ruby red with flavours of cherry, plum and spice on the palate, with velvety soft tannins and a long finish. Best served with pasta, roasted chicken and medium-aged cheeses.

Wine snobs give Pinot Grigio a hard time, blaming its simplicity for their dislike of it. We feel this is one of its most prized qualities, making it both widely approachable and enjoyable. This particular bottle’s bouquet offers rich aromas of tropical fruit followed by delicate floral notes. It’s the perfect glass of wine for a hot summer day. Serve it chilled with appetizers, seafood or chicken.
