This wine is a red blend of exceptional value from the southern Rhone Valley region in France. It is a blend of 50% Grenache / 40% Syrah & 10% Mourvedre grapes, it has spent 18 months maturing in large oak barrels and can be enjoyed now or held onto for a year or two, to further refine in the bottle.
I enjoy drinking this wine any time of the day, it is a versatile food pairing wine that enhances many meat dishes and is also a wonderful accompaniment to a cedar plank salmon dish.
Vegardal Monastrell
The Southeast of Spain is incredibly dry and hot, lending well to organic viticulture. Monastrell (or Mourvèdre in France) thrives in the hot region of Jumilla, producing wines reminiscent of Amarone della Valpolicella. Otherwise known as the M in a GSM blend, you do not often see it as a single varietal wine. The Vegardal Monastrell is a full-bodied, fruity and somewhat savoury beast. You can pair this wine well with paella, Spanish tapas, and grilled red meats. Anyone who loves a big, bold red will love this wine!
