Karen Crippen

Intriga Cabernet Sauvignon

This Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerful display of the high quality cool climate vineyards can produce that create exceptional wines wines that can be aged. We tend to think of age-able wines as being in the higher price bracket, however; this wine is around $30 and has the potential to age a minimum of 10 years. In a recent “Guess the Expensive Wine” event this wine went head to head with premium producers and ended up being the group favorite.  After uncorking you will want to offer time for the wine to open up and get comfortable. You will notice it change from a tight, grippy texture with tense shoulders to a relaxed, confident wine showcasing aromas of dark cherry, cassis and mint.  The structure of the tannins will soften and make this an outstanding wine to have with a hearty dinner. Ideal pairings are steak and richer styles of meat or foods that have some fat to stand up to the big structure of this wine. Enjoy!
